Pupils should work out that the mixture that is produced this way can be separated by pouring it through gauze, thus separating curd from whey. Sieves can have important uses within the food industry. Muslin is used in cheese making to separate the liquid whey from the solid curd. It is also used in wine making to remove sediments. |
